During World War Two, German prisoners of war were being held in a Scottish military camp. The killing of a Luftwaffe pilot in the camp forces British major Ian Hendrey to launch an investigation. He has a hunch that the killing is actually a diversion that is linked to a complex plan for escape arranged by German commander Helmut Griem. However, before they can go through with the break, disagreement between the German prisoners put severe cracks in their once formidable foundation.
