Will it become what they hope it will?

Finally, VUDU announced that they are taking their much anticipated Disc to Digital service live (well, sort of, it's in beta)! Their "In-Home Disc to Digital" program allows you to convert selected titles into "Digital Copies" of the same movie which can then be played back on any device that supports VUDU, such as the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 Roku, Smart Phones and Tablets.

Users will be able to convert their titles with easy so they can be access in the cloud from all of their devices. You will have the choice of "upconverting" your DVD titles to what VUDU calls their "HDX" quality in order to enjoy a better experience with higher than DVD quality streaming.

You can get the app from the App Store or on Google Play now to sign up for the public beta. I tried it earlier today and I have to say it needs work, but will become something really great if they keep it up. Check it out quick because they are offering the first conversion for free for a limited time!
